Wilderness First Aid
Our Wilderness First Aid is a comprehensive program for those who live, work and play in rural or remote areas. This specialized first aid and safety course focuses on how to take care of a casualty when medical help is more than 30 minutes away or unavailable.
The program focuses on adapting First Aid skills as needed, based on availability of supplies, the environment, and additional factors encountered in a remote setting. The program is intended to compliment wilderness survival training and does not replace that skill set.
The Wilderness First Aid Level III course is designed to fit into a 3-day format (with at least half the time being spent in an outdoor setting) that covers core elements with an additional 13 hours of elective elements chosen from a library of topics.

Medical First Responder
- St. John Ambulance's Medical First Responder (MFR) course is a five-day program (or two weekends for a total of 40 hours) that builds on the Standard First Aid program and meets provincial requirements. The course covers topics such as: advanced patient diagnostics, moving and transporting patients, oxygen administration, suctioning, blood glucose, blood pressure and spinal immobilization. Numerous practical exercises prepare participants for the final exam and final outdoor scenarios.
Marine First Aid
Our Marine First Aid course meets Transport Canada regulations for training standards for marine first aid and marine medical care. Nationally recognized certificates are issued by Transport Canada and are valid for five years. Annual retraining in CPR is recommended.

Mental Health in the Workplace
First Aid usually focuses on physical injury and illness; but when there is a mental health emergency most are not prepared to help. The Mental Health in the Workplace Managers and Leaders, and the Mental Health in the Workplace Peer to Peer courses offered in partnership with St. John Ambulance and the Mental Health Commission of Canada, help participants recognize and assist people who are experiencing a mental health emergency.

Opioid Poisoning Response
Opioid poisonings are on the rise across Canada. With proper training, you can be ready to save someone’s life through administering either nasal or intra-muscular Naloxone. This 2 hour course is offered in partnership with St. John Ambulance.
